چکیده

A numerical study on the dynamic responses of irregular fibers under axial tension is presented in this article. The irregularity was represented by a sinusoidal shape profile along the fiber axis. The finite element method was used in the simulations and the maximum first principal stress due to the dynamic pulling has been examined. Our numerical results indicate that the first principal stress mainly varies along the longitudinal direction. Its change in radial direction is negligibly small. The maximum first principal stress in an irregular fiber always appears in the narrowest crosssection, which is the weakest link of the fiber. The maximum first principal stress is very sensitive to the change in the irregular amplitude. The stress value increases dramatically with the increase in the amplitude of irregularity. The frequency of irregularity has a limited effect on the maximum first principal stress. VC 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci 113: 2561–2568, 2009

Study of Energy Dissipation in Accordion Thin-Walled Tubes under Axial Cyclic Loads

Energy absorber systems like metallic dampers for controlling the structural vibrations due to earthquake have witnessed considerable development in the past few decades. Also there are some studies on the energy absorption of thin-walled tubes due to impact load. Thin-walled tubes have a large deformation capacity and are suitable energy absorbers in the structure during an earthquake provided...

Dynamic Analysis of Moving Cables with Variable Tension and Variable Speed

Dynamic Analysis of an axially moving cable with time dependent tension and velocity isstudied in this paper. Tension force and the moving speed are assumed to be harmonic. It is found that there exists a specific value of speed in which natural frequency of the system approacheszero. This specific speed for such a critical condition is called critical speed and it will be proved thatincreasing ...

Analysis of the dynamic behavior of the car user in the irregular terrain

Many people experience vibration effects on whole-body throughout their lives frequently. Vibrating energy absorbed is exposed all-body caused with vibration hazard in the vertically on body and biodynamic responses from body in speed 2.37 to 5.14 m/s could captivate with car seat on user body, so the vibration energy transferred to a seated people body. In this paper, the human body is modeled...
